Veritas Mind Health
The medical professionals at Veritas Mind Health provide infusion therapy for both adults and adolescents suffering from mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. They pride themselves on providing a safe and monitored course of treatment. Because the team at Veritas Mind Health understands how hard it can be to deal with the debilitating symptoms of a mood disorder, they practice their care with compassion and warmth for each and every patient. The infusions are done by their medical director, Dr. Anne J. Miller, who is Harvard-trained and has over 30 years of experience in medical assessment, operating room anesthesia, and intravenous drug administration. Your Treatment: What to Expect at Veritas Mind Health One of the clinic's psychologists will evaluate you and determine whether the treatment would be appropriate for you. Ketamine is given in a measured and timed dose, approximately 40 minutes in duration, through a small intravenous line placed in the forearm or hand. The dose is determined based on your weight. Blood pressure and oxygen levels are monitored at preset intervals and a heart rhythm monitor is used for your initial infusion and if needed thereafter. Various ‘extenders' (nasal spray, lozenges) may be recommended on a case-by-case basis after the best individual dose for the patient has been determined by IV infusion. Who is Ketamine Treatment for? Ketamine has a bit of stigma and baggage given its history. While you may think of it as a "party drug" from the 1990s, there is a growing amount of research that says it has some positive potential. The more research our major institutions conduct, the less stigma there will be around these drugs. And if they can help people with drug-resistant depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc, then why wouldn't we put these to use in proper, clinical settings? Is Ketamine Legal? This is primarily due to its stigma as a party drug. The truth is yes, ketamine is legal. In fact, it is only a Schedule III drug by the DEA. This puts it on the same level as Tylenol and codeine. So don't let the baggage of this drug stop you from learning more about it. As always, ask your doctor if ketamine therapy is right for you. Discover more Massachusetts Ketamine Clinics
