Your Treatment: What to Expect at Relievus Pain Management We will first evaluate your medical history in a preliminary consultation to see if ketamine treatment suits you. If ketamine poses no health risks, Relievus Pain Management may start with one or two initial infusions to test their effectiveness. During the infusions, ketamine is administered over a period of 45 minutes to 60 minutes. The amount given will not cause you to lose consciousness. During the infusion, most patients have a mild dissociative experience, with increased sensitivity to light and sound and an altered perception of time and color. Most patients tolerate these experiences without discomfort and many people find them to be pleasant. If side effects are unpleasant, other rapid-acting medications can quickly alleviate discomfort. The drug's dissociative effects swiftly fade post-infusion, mostly disappearing within 20-30 minutes. Patients typically leave the office about 30 minutes after the infusion, feeling mostly like themselves except for mild fatigue. Most patients who respond to the infusions see some improvement the day of or after their second infusion. If not, Relievus Pain Management may attempt a longer and/or higher dose infusion. And if there is still no response, the clinic generally stops further treatment. In the off chance ketamine does improve your mood, outlook, and functionality, Relievus Pain Management suggests that you receive 2-4 additional infusions over the next 4 weeks (1-2 infusions every 2 weeks) to maximize ketamine's brain-repairing abilities. That is a total of 6 infusions for one full series. Discover more Relievus Pain Management Locations:
