When the decision is made to proceed with treatment, your first infusions will be scheduled. Infusion Therapy Learn how to prepare for your infusion appointment here. Treatment is initiated with 6 infusions given over a 2 week time period—typically following a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule (a different protocol will be set up for chronic pain patients). During your infusions, you'll be in a private treatment room. You will be continuously monitored including your blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation. An intravenous (IV) line will be placed and the infusion started. The infusion will be given slowly over 40 minutes. Many patients may find it helpful to listen to music or just sit back and relax. The IV will remain in place until you're fully recovered (typically 1-2 hours). Upon completion of the 3rd infusion, an assessment will be performed to ensure you are responding and should continue with the therapy. During this process, and throughout your care with Klarity, Dr. Reed will update and consult with your primary mental healthcare provider and you will continue to follow their guidance. Maintenance For most patients, follow-up infusions are necessary every 4-6 weeks after the initial infusions are completed.
