Patrick Sullivan

Patrick Sullivan

DO

Dr. Sullivan is a Board Certified Emergency Physician who has been treating psychiatric and substance abuse emergencies for over 20 years. He has worked both in specialized Psychiatric and Neurologic Emergency Department where he specializes in diagnosing and treating acute psychiatric emergencies as well as stroke, headaches, seizures and other emergencies. In 2016, Dr. Sullivan opened Initia Nova, the first office in South Jersey to use ketamine infusion therapy (KIT) for treatment-resistant depression. In 2017 Initia Nova became the first practice on the east coast to provide ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) for the treatment of PTSD. In 2018 Initia Nova started providing transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and became one of the first to offer an accelerated theta burst protocol. Dr. Sullivan is one of a few physicians in the world to provide a combination of ketamine with TMS for those who have failed to improve from either modality alone, or ECT. Since 2016 Dr. Sullivan has pioneered new therapies for the treatment of Alcohol Use Disorder and some other forms of addiction including cocaine and opiates. A unique combination of ketamine and NAD+ infusions, along with oral medications and psychotherapy, have been truly groundbreaking for many patients. Another groundbreaking treatment program developed by Initia Nova is for the treatment of migraine headaches, as well as cluster headaches and trigeminal neuralgia. This program combines ketamine infusions with advanced nerve blocks and new migraine specific medications to provide relief even for those who have thought they failed everything. Dr. Sullivan is a member of the Board of Directors for the American Society of Ketamine Physicians, Psychotherapists & Practitioners, is the primary author of The Standards of Practice in the Therapeutic Use of Subanesthetic Ketamine, and has lectured at the KRIYA Ketamine Conferences. He is also a certified TMS provider and a member of the Clinical TMS Society. Dr. Sullivan is the only certified provider of The Sinclair Method in New Jersey to use naltrexone for the treatment of alcohol use disorder, and one of the few providers experienced in using baclofen. Dr. Sullivan works with a collaborative healthcare team of experienced ER nurses, as well as a psychiatrist, a psychiatric nurse practitioner and licensed, experienced therapists to help patients overcome the most difficult cases of depression, PTSD, addiction, and some forms of chronic pain. He believes this comprehensive approach provides the best opportunity for patients to achieve health and happiness and find their new beginnings.
