Cope Psychiatry St. Louis is directed by Dr. Azfar Malik, MD. Dr. Malik is a renowned speaker and educator around the United States. Drs. Prakash Masand, Ashwin Patkar, and Steven Szabo founded the Centers of Psychiatric Excellence to fill a perceived unmet need of providing support to those suffering from hard-to-treat conditions. As a result, The St. Louis clinic offers flexible scheduling and competitive pricing, recognizing that treatments must also fit with a patient's day-to-day life. Cope Psychiatry uses evidence-based, innovative ketamine treatments to bring relief to members of the St. Louis community who are struggling with their conditions. Offered Treatments at Cope Psychiatry St. Louis Ketamine Infusion Therapy Spravato esketamine (nasal treatment) Treated Conditions Major Depression Bipolar Depression Generalized Anxiety Disorder PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) Chronic Pain Fibromyalgia Important Info Certain pre-existing conditions may affect your eligibility for ketamine therapy. Most insurance providers do not cover ketamine therapy. Check with your provider beforehand. Alternate arrangements for transportation must be made following treatments. Cope Psychiatry offers flexible scheduling and competitive pricing to suit your needs. Your Treatment: What to expect at Cope Psychiatry St. Louis Patients are screened by a psychiatric expert prior to beginning ketamine infusion treatments. This ensures that the treatments will not exacerbate any pre-existing conditions. Following screening, Initial treatment consists of three (3) IV infusions of ketamine per week. Each infusion, set in a comfortable, private room, lasts approximately 40 minutes, in addition to an hour observation period after each treatment. During treatment, patients may feel very relaxed, or may have mild visual hallucinations, though these effects are normal and important for the treatment. While the treatment is underway, the process is closely monitored by an expert physician. Who is this treatment for? Cope Psychiatry's research states that "up to 75% of patients…experience quick and substantial relief after receiving ketamine infusions," though each case is very different. The treatments at the Cope Psychiatry St. Louis clinic are, therefore, for those who have not found relief from depression, anxiety, or chronic pain through mainstream avenues. However, ketamine treatment should not replace traditional psychiatric or physiological treatments. Rather, in conjunction with these treatments, infusions can achieve positive results.
